This is a layout that is dear to my heart as it is a picture of my brother and I. A couple of years ago we saw each other at a family wedding which I had no idea he was travelling to attend, so it was great catching up with him as we very rarely see each other due to life and distance (once every couple years or so). The layout is based on a sketch that you can find at www.scrappingcarolina.ning.com. The requirements were to use the sketch and the a colour palette of green to celebrate March and St. Patty's Day. This first picture shows the sketch in my layout quite well.
Instead of 2 length wise columns I chose to make them into 6 thinner banner pieces. The wider column behind the picture is replaced by an embossed glassine envelope given to me by a friend, thanks Tamara. The width wise column from the sketch is seen here by my use of a wide lace. Interpreting sketches to suit your own creativity is a great jumping off point for many of my layouts. Now here is the finished layout with all its embellishments.
I added the letters to the ends of the banner to read "family" and also added some WOC mini roses and leaves along with a bird cage and bird. The tag in the envelope houses my journalling about the day. Thanks for looking and please come check out Tamara's site and see what other challenges she might have in store for us.
Love how you softened that angular sketch with the use of lace and romantic papers!! Beautiful layout :O)
